THE STORY

The little-known story of the dilemma of the people of the Baltic country of Estonia during World War II is intimately told in the narrative of two sisters who lived through the onslaught.

One sister was torn from her husband and three-week-old son, placed aboard a cattle car and deported to the harsh, frigid labor camps of Siberia.

The other escaped with her sister’s son and her parents to Germany only to be caught in the crossfire of the Axis and Allied powers.

This intensely personal story of faith and courage is the result of interviews, diaries, letters and the first-hand knowledge of one of the authors, V. Eric Kotter, who was the infant Vello snatched away from his parents.
